Safety in the home, outdoors, and in motor vehicles is a priority for Baby Corner.  On staff are three certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians.  Wanda Yamashita, is both a CPST and a certified trainer.

EBC purchases more than 75% of the 1,400 car seats provided annually; donated car seats are thoroughly vetted by the CPST team.  We host or participate in car seat checks for all community members several times each year.

Child Passenger Safety Week helps to draw attention to the need for child restraint systems that are installed and used properly.

Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children. On average, two children under 13 were killed and an estimated 374 were injured every day in 2019 while riding in cars, SUVs, pickups, and vans.

• 608 child passenger vehicle occupants died in traffic crashes in 2019.
• 38% of children who died in 2019 while riding in passenger vehicles were unrestrained, compared to 33% in 2018.
